Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

What is prehabilitation?

Prehabilitation (or “prehab”) is physical therapy before surgery. It helps strengthen your body, improve mobility, and prepare you for a smoother recovery after the procedure.

Post-rehab ensures you heal properly by reducing pain and swelling, restoring range of motion, and rebuilding strength so you can safely return to normal activities.

We commonly treat patients undergoing joint replacements (hip, knee, shoulder), ligament repairs (such as ACL), spine surgery, and fracture repairs, among others.

Ideally, you should begin 4–6 weeks before surgery, but even a short period of prehab can improve outcomes and speed recovery.

The length depends on the procedure and your healing process. Some patients need a few weeks, while others may benefit from several months of care.

Some discomfort is expected, especially after surgery, but therapy should not cause sharp pain. We guide you through safe, gradual progressions to protect healing tissues.
