What DPT Students Can Expect

Interns participate in a curriculum aligned with the APTA’s Clinical Practice Guidelines, ensuring evidence-based care is at the center of every patient interaction.

Students work 1:1 with patients allowing the time needed to build rapport, practice clinical reasoning, and refine manual and exercise-based skills.

Each intern is paired with experienced clinical instructors who provide daily teaching, structured feedback, and guidance rooted in the clinical practice guidelines established by the Orthopaedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Serving the Central Valley means exposure to a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, as well as the opportunity to work in a culturally diverse community.

Why Choose The Summit?

A supportive team culture built on our vision of Healing and Serving.

Access to clinicians who are leaders in residency training and advanced practice.

A commitment to professional growth, leadership development, and preparing students not only to pass clinical education requirements but also to thrive in practice after graduation.

Clinical Internships for PTAs (Physical Therapist Assistants)

At The Summit Physical Therapy, we recognize that Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) are an essential part of the care team. Our PTA internship program is designed to prepare students for real-world practice with the same emphasis on clinical excellence, mentorship, and patient-centered care that defines our organization.

What PTA Students Can Expect

PTA interns develop their skills in therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual techniques, and patient education, working directly with patients under the supervision of licensed physical therapists.

Students learn to apply treatment plans guided by the APTA’s Clinical Practice Guidelines, ensuring care is safe, effective, and research-driven.

Each intern is paired with experienced clinical instructors who provide structured teaching, daily feedback, and encouragement. PTAs at The Summit are deeply valued, and we make it a priority to invest in their development.

Interns experience firsthand how PTs and PTAs collaborate as a team, learning the communication, documentation, and clinical skills necessary for a seamless flow of care.

Students work with a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions across the Central Valley, serving a culturally diverse patient population.
